In this presentation, originally presented at a CIBSE conference in 2016, Professor Andy Ford of London Southbank University explores the benefits of improving the performance of buildings.
Prof. Ford highlights that fuel poverty and excess cold in homes accounts for 15,000 additional deaths per year in the UK.
Using a BRE briefing paper “The cost of poor housing to the NHS” Prof Ford shows that solving excess cold in UK homes would save the NHS alone some £848m per year.
